This is a story about a man named Harold Crick and his wrist watch.
Harold Crick is a man of infinite numbers, endless counting, and remarkably few words. And his wrist watch said even less.
Every week day for twelve years,Harold would brush each of his thirty-two teeth 76 times- 38 times back and forth,38 times up and down.
Every week day for twelve years,Harold would tie his tie in a single winsome knot instead of the double, thereby saving up 43 seconds. His wrist watch thought the single winsome knot made his neck looks fat but said nothing.
Every week day for twelve years, Harold would run as a rate nearly 57 steps per block for 6 blocks. barely catching the 8:17 Croning bus.
His wrist watch would delighted in the feeling the crisp of the wind brushing over his face.
But her face is so sweet, so peace. And I guest it's because when she died, she could feel the wind against her face.
"It's..uh...it's ok."
"It's not great?!"
"No. It's ok, it's not bad. It's not the most amazing piece of the English literature in recent years, but it's ok."
"You know....I think I'm fine with ok."
"I just realize I couldn't do it."
"Because he's real?"
"Because it's a book about a man who didn't know he's about to die and then die. But the man does know he's going to die and dies anyway, dies willingly knowing he could stop it.Isn't he the type of man you would want to keep him alive?"
Quote:
Everyone thinks about leaping off the building!
Sometimes, when we lose ourselves in fear and despair, in routine and constancy, in hopelessness and tragedy, we can thank God for Bavarian sugar cookies, and fortunately, when there aren’t any cookies we can still find reassurance in a familiar hand on our skin, or a kind and loving gesture, or a subtle encouragement, or a loving embrace, or an offer of comfort, not to mention hospital gurneys, and nose-plugs, and uneaten danish, and soft spoken secrets, and Fender Stratocasters, and maybe the occasional piece of fiction.
And we must remember that all these things, the nuances, the anomalies, the subtleties, which we assume only accessorize our days are in fact here for a much larger and nobler cause. They are here to save our lives.
